I think that's because I still had Ethan with me; it wasn't all quite *over* at the same time. I compromised by saying "Awwwwwwwww" at random intervals for the hour after we left Ridgecrest. By the time we dropped Ethan off at his house the next morning, I was too tired to really think about it.
It was a great week, as expected.
We left out house with Lucas and Alex on Saturday, picked up Ethan five hours later, and made it to Chicago. We took a few days to get to NC, but I'm not going to write about those now.
Me- "I smell iced tea."
Ethan- "I was going to say dead skunk..."
Lucas- "I hate horses."
Ethan- "Cows are a better food source."

L- "I like draft horses."
E- "They're basically cows."
L- "That's why I like them."
T- "I don't think they're alphabetical; they're just all in order."
We didn't make it to Ridgecrest for divine service the first day. We found all our friends by that evening though. It's always wonderful to see them. We talked. A lot. And saw Rae's car. Someone told us there was square dancing, but by the time we went to check out the entertainment, no one was dancing.
Sectionals I attended that day:
The Antichrist - That was a very full one. We were told reasons that the Pope is the Antichrist, but to my disappointment "What does this mean?" wasn't really answered..
At that time I was also reveling in being around my friends. Seth passed a pack of gum down the row. That's a normal friend thing that I don't get to enjoy with those people very often.
I also missed the first sectional because we were moving our stuff in.
STUFF THAT WENT ON ALL WEEK
Choir: I love HT choir. We sang wonderful songs. It was also awesome to have Seth and Kezia singing in my ears. Most of the girls were soprano instead of alto like me.
Plenaries: Pr. Kuhlman and Pr. Cwirla both did a great job.
In-Depth: Most of us went to Pr. Borghardt's "Christology in the movies", and no one regretted it.
Person in Talladaga Nights -"Ah like my Jesus in a two piece suit wearin' angel wings singin' lead at a Lynrd Skynrd concert."
Pr. B- "What is important about this clip?"
Random Person- "It shows people praying together as a family."
Pr. B- "That's one of them."
Pr. Borghardt is always entertaining, but even better he does a wonderful job of proclaiming the Gospel.
Wednesday most of us switched to the Red Group because a few were scheduled to play laser tag. We also climbed up the mountain to use our mini golf tickets. The boys played really fast, so it's a good thing we girls were ahead to slow them down. ;)Sectionals:
The Holy Spirit FOR YOU: The Third Article - Pr. Schultz did a very good job on that one. I knew he would, that's why I went to it. :D
Most of the week, I had a cold. I was going to go to the "Lutheran or Lutheran?" one for my other choice. I was even sitting down waiting for it to start. But then I realized that I would feel a lot less miserable if I went to take a nap instead, so that's what I did. I had other people taking notes for me at that one, at least.
Thursday my alarm didn't go off. I ended up getting to breakfast just as everyone else was leaving. I ate with Seth's mom though, which was nice. We spent our mid-day free time signing each other's shirts and books. Rae drew smileys.
Rachel- "Why does Ethan's guy have a full set of teeth and mine only has buck teeth?"

It was our last day there, so we stayed up later that night. Even though Seth abandoned us for some "hot chicks". ;) And then when he finally came back he and Ethan had a very revealing conversation that I don't think I'm allowed to repeat here. :P
Sectionals:
So You Think You have Free Will, Huh? - The pastor summed up a book of Luther's on Free Will for us. He basically explained that we do have a *will*, we just don't have a completely free will. We are still in bondage to sin, and that takes away our freedom.
Paul Gerhardt: A Hymn Writer FOR YOU - (Yes, I actually made it to both sectionals that day!) I didn't know anything about Paul Gerhardt, so I learned a bunch. Unfortunately, my voice chose that moment to completely stop working so I wasn't able to sing when they sang some of the hymns.
Friday came all too soon.
Sectionals:
You Might be a Pietist If... - Rachel said her dad was nervous, but everyone liked his sectional. I'm sure everyone was made to realize a pietist part of them.
Rachel's dad - "Here is Melvin Methobapticostal, and this is Lila Lutheran."
An Apology for the Apology - He gave us a history of sorts; for the reason we need to be able to defend our faith. Pr. Mallie is another one of the great HT speakers. What more can I say?
We had a great time at lunch. I think food helps people relax or something, because I think our mealtimes at conferences are the best. And especially the last one, after we've been together all week. There isn't much better than fellowship with my best friends.
Divine Service closed the conference, of course. Standing in line for communion, singing and surrounded by 1000 people singing At the Lamb's High Feast is wonderful. That's what HT is about: Christ, given for us. I got shivers.
And then it was over. Everyone met outside the chapel for final pictures and goodbyes. I got a bunch of hugs. I love hugs. I love my friends too. I was sad to leave, but very glad I got to see them.

Very melodramatically saying "Awwwwwwwww", I might add. :P
*Seth passes gum to Ethan*
*Ethan passes to Heidi*
*Heidi passes to Smeg*
Seth-(sighs a little, whispers) He's already had three pieces.
I was surprised buy just how powerful a speaker Pr. B was, though I suppose I shouldn't have been.
Apparently, you didn't miss much at "Lutheran and a Lutheran."
<_< Pretty soon I'm going to start wiping out evidence that that conversation ever happened.
(Me to Tarja the other night: I'm really starting to regret that conversation.) :P
The only thing I think you left out was the bridge collapse in MN; I think that actually affected some of the speakers a lot, both because it was so traumatic and because they had just been crossing that bridge the week before.
Ethan tells me that conversation never took place.
I see the fedora!!!
Maggie was right... all the girls went to NC. We were pretty much the only girl MHers who hung out with evryone at MN.
::legs bounce up and down and pump energy from the room::
Choir was amazing. I had Ben and Steffan Maiwald behind me, (and Rae and my sister Bekah beside me,)and WOW it was beautiful. Also, Seth once told me that he couldn't sing very well and we should all tell him that he is a LIAR. He sat beside me during Compline and he knew compline better than I did. I tried to pick up the notes from him. :-p
Pr. Borghardt's sectional was amazing. I'm never disappointed when I go to his stuff. He's always so wonderful. (And I'm not just saying that because he gave me the Oven Mitt.)
Rae and I decided that my version of her was Hick!Southern!Rae, hence the buck teeth. I love little Hick!Southern!Rae. So cute and buck-toothed.
My dad loves using the phrase 'Methobapticostal'. He thinks it's hilarious. :p But you're right, his sectional does make everyone realize the pietistic nature of themselves. I know I sure did.
Ethan, I know you say that conversation never happened, but it was probably the funniest thing I have ever seen in my life. You two are just so brilliant and watching you guys go back and forth like that... priceless. That is one of those memories I'll take with me until the day I die. (And trust me, we knew you were both joking. No matter what Sarah says. [I really can smack her for you.])
I didn't cry either, which is a step up from last year when I bawled like a baby. I was finally sad when the Heimbigners left our house... so I decided to catch up on my sleep instead. What can I say? I was tired.
What? No mention of Ethan's fedora??
Ethan's fedora isn't as pretty as Heidi's.
...Speaking of Heidi, I think she gave me her cold. Better now, though. :)
Well, thank you, Rachel. :D And consider yourself given free reign to smack your sister for me. ;)
<_< *grumbles something about how the point of fedoras isn't to look pretty* :P
No, I suppose it isn't. Anyway, you would look silly in Heidi's fedora. *prefers bowler hats* :p
I looked pretty in Ethan's fedora.
What. It's true!
And I think I may go smack Sarah for you right now, Ethan. She's screaming down the hall.
Exellent post, Heidi! I should really write one as well, but that would require resurecting my blog. And, as they say, ya can't raise the dead. ;)
I'm not in the group pic! You guys didn't wait for me! ;)
And Smeg did have 3 pieces. At the end of For You he had eaten basically half of the pack of my gum.
Does anyone have a hard copy of Ethan and my conversation? I want to treasure it forever. It's the closest I've ever felt to him.
*sobs*
;)
Sorry.
Anyways, it was great fun, and we should do it again!
ST. LOUIS '08, CRAZIES!
Seth
